This 8 day course covers both the Maritime Security Operative course and the Level 3 Award in Education & Training. All operators wishing to be either a Maritime Security Operative or a Team Leader in either maritime security or in close protection should have the the Education & Training qualification in line with industry standards. Maritime Security Operative Course:

The Maritime Security Operative course (MSO) is designed for individuals wishing to operate or currently operating as Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PCASP). The Maritime Security Operative (MSO) qualification is the only Ofqual accredited qualification based directly on the new international standard for Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs): ISO28007 [Guidelines for PMSCs providing privately contracted armed security personnel (PCASP) on board ships].

The qualification is also suitable for those wishing to operate as an unarmed maritime security operative on board ships.

This 4 day course covers the 4 mandatory units:

Understand the Maritime Security Industry

Understand Maritime security pre-deployment planning and procedures

Understand Maritime security operating procedures

Understand Maritime incident management and post operational procedure

Award in Education and Training:

This course is accredited with Pearson Edexcel and is ideal for those entering the teaching/instructor industry. It is also ideal for anyone currently teaching, or wishing to teach, their subject specialism. This course is in line with ISO28007. All MSO Team Leaders will be required to have their Award in Education and Training instructor rating.
